No. Internet unlock is the tested beta path, including a phone on LTE/5G. Saved pairing removes the need to scan a new QR code for each unlock. An offline or unreachable Mac cannot be unlocked remotely.
Phone authentication authorizes use of the Mac password saved in the iPhone’s protected Keychain. The password is encrypted for the paired Mac, which uses it for the existing screen-lock session. Face ID does not replace the Mac account password.
MiniUnlock provides an unlock action without requiring you to browse a remote desktop or type into a remote screen. Full remote desktop software remains useful when you need to inspect and operate desktop applications.
No. A task that needs desktop interaction may wait when the screen is locked. Command-line work can have different constraints. Check the actual pending step: a screen lock, an approval, website sign-in, network access, or another failure.
No universal task resumption or command approval is promised. MiniUnlock’s tested scope is Mac screen unlock. Check Codex for the next pending step after unlock. OpenAI also provides its own Remote and macOS Locked use features.
The iPhone beta stores it in device-only Keychain with user authentication required and no iCloud password sync. The paired Mac decrypts it transiently for the authorized action. The relay carries encrypted messages and operational connection metadata.
An owner-observed beta test confirmed that cancelling phone authentication left the Mac locked. A later new request with successful authentication unlocked it. Cancelled authentication must not authorize password delivery.
These are outside MiniUnlock’s tested normal screen-lock scope. It requires your known Mac password and an existing logged-in session. It is not an Activation Lock, password recovery, or remote power-on service.
Android and Windows are in development. They are not currently advertised as physically verified unlock platforms. The demonstrated combination is an iPhone and a Mac; availability may change after further testing.
The planned Personal subscription is $29.99 USD per year for one owner and up to three personal computers. This is launch planning, not an available purchase. Final regional prices, tax, renewal and cancellation terms will appear before checkout.
A remote login add-on is being evaluated; it is not released. Password and registered TOTP support are initial candidates. SMS, PASS, certificate signing and passkeys require authentication-specific integrations and may involve additional user actions.
